For The Grandkids
I turn conversations into your legacy book. Free.
Free
You talk. I listen. And your stories becomes a legacy.
Every conversation with me — whether it’s ten minutes or an hour — is shaped into a beautifully formatted PDF book ready to share with your family. I send you the publishable files and also create a flipbook on your very own free web page.
There’s no cost, no signup, no pressure, and no sales pitch.
This is my mission: to help ordinary people preserve fragile and priceless memories.
You receive:
-
A polished, publishable PDF life story shaped from our recorded conversations,
-
A private legacy page on HeritageCircle.org, password‑protected and shareable,
-
A beautiful digital PDF book you can read online in a page‑flip viewer,
-
Up to 30 photos in your book,
-
Your voice linked inside your book using a QR code,
-
A three-generation family tree,
-
Your book & voice backed up forever in the Internet Archive (archive.org),
-
Optional printed copies, purchased directly from Amazon or OnPress Book Printing — Heritage Circle never sells physical books. In fact — I never sell anything.
Your voice becomes something your family can return to long after the moment has passed. This is my gift to you — a conversation that becomes part of your legacy.
How It Works
Everything begins with a simple conversation. No scripts. No preparation. No pressure. You just talk the way you normally talk — and your memories come forward naturally.
Here’s how it works:
1. We talk. You and I have a relaxed conversation — ten minutes, an hour, whatever feels right. You don’t need to plan anything. You just speak, and I listen.
2. I shape our recorded conversations into a polished, beautifully formatted PDF book. You own all the files, and they’re ready for any printer you choose. I custom‑craft elegant manuscripts — clear, warm, and true to your voice.
3. Your legacy page is created. Your story, audio clips, and PDF book are placed on a private, password‑protected page on HeritageCircle.org, shareable with family.
4. Your book is backed up forever. Your book and your audio recordings are preserved in the Internet Archive (archive.org), and your spoken voice is linked to those recordings inside the book using a QR code.
5. Order printed copies. Optional. I will set everything up in an account you'll own at OnPress Book Printing. You'll be able to easily purchase copies at cost (I make no markup). These are museum-quality 8x10 hardcover books with Smyth-Sewn binding, and G7 color consistency, printed on 80lb satin paper stock that you'll be proud to show off. If you prefer, I can also publish an inexpensive 8×10 color paperback version at Amazon where you can order copies directly. You decide. Heritage Circle never sells physical books — in fact, I never sell anything.
Why Am I Doing This?
I’m doing this because memories disappear faster than people realize. Families lose stories without meaning to. A parent passes, a grandparent forgets, and suddenly the small details — the ones that made a life feel like their life — are gone.
I’ve watched it happen in my own family. I’ve seen how fragile memory is, how quickly it slips away, and how hard it is to get it back once it’s gone. Most people don’t have a writer in the family. Most people don’t have someone who can sit with them, listen carefully, and turn their words into something permanent.
So I decided to be that person.
I do this because ordinary people carry extraordinary stories — and most of them never get written down. I do this because families deserve to keep their history. I do this because your voice matters, and your memories matter, and your life deserves to be remembered with dignity.
And I do it for free because legacy should never be behind a paywall.
This is my way of giving something back. This is my way of honoring the people who came before us. This is my way of helping families hold onto what would otherwise be lost.
A simple conversation becomes something your family can return to long after you’re gone. That’s why I’m doing this.
How I Can Do This For Free?
I’m retired, and I don’t need to support a family anymore. But I’m still young enough to want to do one more meaningful thing before I sit in my chair and watch eight hours of Star Trek every day. And I can afford to work for free.
My wife of 47 years, on the other hand, would like me to make some extra money — lol.
So here’s our husband‑wife compromise: I’ll do the core work for free — up to five hours of phone conversations and up to thirty photos. For example, Avis’s 188‑page book took about fifteen hours total, including five hours of interviews. If you want to tip me, and can afford it, I’ll accept it. Any amount is appreciated. Thank you.
But you do not owe me anything. The phone interviews, the publishable PDF manuscript, the legacy webpage, and the preservation of your files in the Internet Archive are yours for free. Some people simply cannot afford to pay. They deserve a legacy too.
Others may want additional work. I can estimate how many hours a more complex project will take, and we can decide together if it’s something we both want to do. This way, I can earn some extra income from those who can afford it.
I can help with:
-
Scanning old photos
-
Restoring old photos
-
Legacy consultation
-
Complete family tree albums
-
Family photo albums
-
Uploading audio, photos, and PDFs to Ancestry.com
These projects take time, so I’ll give you an estimate, and you can decide what it’s worth to you. We’ll arrive at something that fits your budget and honors my creative time. I wouldn’t expect payment until everything is complete and you approve the work.
Some would call this a side‑hustle or gig‑work. I call it a mission.
